Works for Me: Two blankets on the bed

I have a confession:

I am a blanket hog.

If there is a blanket on the bed, I will grab it in my sleep, wrap it around myself, and only some vigorous yanking will dislodge it from my grasp. Temporarily.

In the interest of marital harmony, we realized very early on that something had to change or one day I would discover that my beloved had turned into an icicle.

As I mentioned previously, I'm a big believer in easy bed-making - there's no flat sheet, just a comforter with a cover. So our solution was simple: We simply added a second comforter to our bed. Now at night, we each have our own comforters so there's no fighting over coverage.

Simple, effective and - dare I say? - brilliant.

I'm the same way! I cocoon myself; it let to same middle of the night fighting. Now we both have our own comforters. Nowhere does it say you have to share blankets with your hubby! :P

My husband and I have been doing that since our honeymoon a decade ago. When I suggested it as a solution to a friend she told me in all seriousness that it was a precurser to divorce. Instead it has created unity, we are united in our need to sleep :).

I'm so glad I'm not the only one, everyone's always looked at me funny when I mention it!

@Marie - It took me a minute to understand what your friend meant, that's just crazy talk!

We use king top sheets and blankets on our queen sized bed which stopped all the hogging.

I learned this when I was a kid and had friends sleep over! We would sleep on the big fold-out bed in the family room, and many of my friends would steal the covers. (I'm weird and don't move at all in my sleep.) Then one time a friend brought her sleeping bag, so I used my sleeping bag on the bed, and no problem! After that I always got out two sets of bedding.

Anybody who thinks separate blankets are a precursor to divorce ought to share a pillow with her spouse!

@Seely - That's a great idea too!

@Becca - LOL on the sharing a pillow!
