My Word for 2016 + No Resolutions

No Resolutions in 2016 | Chief Family Officer

I was taught the importance of setting goals while I was growing up, and it was a skill set that served me well for many years. I went to a great college, graduated from law school and passed the bar exam on the first try, worked different and interesting jobs, paid off my student loans, and became a work-at-home mom.

I never could have predicted the day would come when setting a goal or making New Year's resolutions just didn't feel right for me - and yet, that day has come. Because when it comes to setting goals, you have to know what you want to achieve, and I honestly don't know what that is for me right now. I have very vague achievements in mind - things like being the best mother, wife, daughter, and friend I can be, and learning to be the best me I can be.

So instead of setting a goal or several for 2016, I've decided to encapsulate the year in a single word:

My Word for 2016: Listen | Chief Family Officer

In 2016, I want to do better at listening to myself, to God, to my children, to my husband, and everyone around me. One of the sites I found this year was Hands Free Mama - Rachel's words really resonated with me, and one message I repeatedly took from them was to listen. To listen and be present and focused in the moment, instead of letting the negative voice of fear/anger/frustration steal my attention.

And of course, I want to listen to you too, so I can better help you through Chief Family Officer. So tell me - how can I support you in 2016?
