Works for me: Flossing in the shower

I have a confession: I hate flossing my teeth. So much so that up until about ten years ago, I didn't use to floss every night. There's just something about sticking my fingers in my mouth, and little bits of food flying out, that makes me cringe.

But then I learned to floss in the shower. And I've been flossing every night since. (Yes, I shower at night - it shortens my morning routine considerably.) With the water running down my back and washing all those food particles away, flossing in the shower is about as pleasant as flossing can possibly be. And it was particularly helpful back in my pregnancy days, when all of a sudden, in the middle of flossing, I'd be hit with a wave of nausea.

So if you hate flossing as much as I do, why not do it in the shower?

Good idea! How do you keep the floss container from getting soaked? Or does it matter? WHEN I floss which isn't very often *cringe* I do it while watching TV. Gross.

@Jim - I leave the floss container in the medicine cabinet, and tear a foot off when I'm about to get in the shower. Needless to say, I don't actually start flossing until the water's warmed up and I'm comfortably under the stream :)

Sorry, the last post wasn't from Jim. It was from me. His wife. He was just the last blogger signed in at home! :)

Thanks for the quick response! I'll have to try your idea this morning.

i am not sure why i never considered flossing in the shower, i already brush my teeth in the shower since it saves me the time of making two trips to the bathroom.
i will definately have to start doing this and see how it works for me

I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. I shave in the showers, so why not floss. :D

Hee hee. You're funny.

I hate flossing, too, but I started using those GUM Flossers that my son uses, and they're way better than having to stick your fingers in your mouth.

That's so funny, I'm just the opposite...I'm totally addicted to flossing. I feel like if I don't floss then I'm just going to sleep with that night's dinner firmly embedded in my teeth. Gross I know but I really beat my gums up with the floss and my dentist loves me for it ;-)
