The 29-Day Giving Challenge: Days 1 and 2

Yesterday was Day 1 of my 29-Day Giving Challenge. When I arrived at the office, I dropped off a box of baby clothes for my colleague who's having a baby boy in a few months (it's her first child). I got a very nice email thanking me for leaving her more money to buy diapers.

I also picked up a small bottle of carbonated nigori sake for my husband. Nigori is his favorite alcoholic drink and I thought he'd enjoy this unusual variety (he thought it was just okay - but it's the thought that counts!).

Today, Day 2, I passed on some additional baby-related items to one of the boys' daycare teachers. She's expecting a baby girl in a few months so she doesn't want any of the boys' clothes, but she's happily accepted an assortment of baby gear from us.

My thoughts so far: Giving is fun, but to give something every day, I'm going to have to plan ahead!

You may want to include in the idea of "giving" some smaller, easier tasks for you to accomplish on days when you haven't prepped any tangible goods. You can write a thank you card to a service person, teacher, manager at a store with good customer service, etc. Or just send a note to a friend who needs a pick-me-up, give a note/snack to an elderly neighbor, that kind of thing.

Gina - Those are all great ideas! I especially like the thank you card one and will definitely use it :)
