I never expected to be giving weekly updates on the price of eggs, but after discussing it twice now (here and here), I might as well mention that after last week's sticker shock of $1.69 per dozen, the price this week dropped a little bit to $1.49.
So, it's not as good as it was originally at $1.19, but still better than $1.69!

Although I am a pretty frugal shopper, I was surprised to realize I never paid attention to the price of eggs. We don't eat very many but I would buy them when I needed them without considering the price. When I saw this post I decided to check my receipt from last night's trip to safeway and was surprised to see that my dozen eggs were $2.99. These weren't anything special either, just the regular eggs. I'm in the Seattle area. Are we the only ones with such high prices?
Yesterday I paid $3.29 for a dozen eggs at a Safeway store in the Maryland/DC metro area. Everything here has shot up significantly in the past 3-4 months.
Egg prices are still holding steady at around $2 a dozen here in Tennessee...it's ridiculous!
It will be interesting to see how much they come down around Easter (if at all).
