  • Walgreens Starter Scenarios: 9/2 – 9/8/2012

You’ll find a list of this week’s Walgreens deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. In these transactions, I assume that you do not have any Register Rewards to start with.

    Transaction #1:
2 Scope Dual Blast or Outlast Mouthwash @ 2/$6

    2 x $1.50/1 Scope from 8/26 P&G insert

    Pay: $3 + tax
    Receive: $3 RR

    Transaction #2:
2 Aussie or Herbal Essence Hair Care @ 2/$6
    1 Maruchan Ramen @ $0.19

$3/2 Herbal Essence or Aussie from 8/5 Red Plum
    $3 RR from previous transaction

    Pay: $0.19 + tax
    Receive: $2 RR

At this point, you’ll have paid $3.19 + tax for 2 bottles of mouthwash, 2 bottles of hair care, and a package of ramen – plus you’ll have a $2 RR to roll next week or spend this week, making your net cost just $1.19 + tax. You’d pay more than that for one bottle of mouthwash or hair care at other stores!
