My favorite free money site Swagbucks has kicked off the new year by showing why I love to earn free Amazon gift cards through them: As I mentioned in November, Swagbucks lowered gift card prices through the end of the year, so that 100 Swag Bucks = $1. $5 Amazon gift cards remained a bargain at 450 Swag Bucks (monthly limit 5), and all of the other gift cards came down in price and had no limit. I loved the new pricing, and was able to redeem many more gift cards than I would have otherwise in the last two months.

I was hoping Swagbucks would continue the new pricing in 2013, so I was thrilled when they announced earlier this week that they would! That means each Swag Buck you earn has added value, compared to the same time last year – and that’s a great example of why I love Swagbucks.

Since I wrote those posts, Swagbucks has added a new way of earning that I love: the SBTV app for iPhone. I use the app every day to watch SBTV videos on my iPhone, and I get 2 Swag Bucks for every 5 videos I watch, up to a maximum of 50 Swag Bucks per day. That’s a 33% better return on my time and effort than web-based SBTV, and the SBTV mobile limit is in addition to the web-based SBTV daily limit of 150. So if you can max out web-based SBTV and SBTV mobile, that’s 200 daily Swag Bucks right there.

If you don’t have an iPhone, there’s been an SBTV mobile app for Android for quite some time now, although I could never get it to run properly on my old Motorola Droid phone. If you have a device that runs Android, it’s definitely worth a shot, since like web-based SBTV, SBTV mobile is easy to run in the background while you do other things.

One word of caution regarding SBTV: You’ll want to keep an eye on your data usage if your internet and/or wireless plans have limits. For example, I have an unlimited wireless data plan, so I run SBTV on my phone using the 3G setting instead of wifi. There are times when I need to switch to wifi for performance reasons, but most of the time, the 3G setting is perfectly acceptable. Our home internet plan does have a monthly limit, and I monitor our usage regularly to make sure we don’t go over the limit – we come close sometimes if it’s a month when we download or stream a lot of videos and/or games.

I keep saying it, but it’s true: Swagbucks is my favorite way to earn free money online. All you have to do is use Swagbucks as your search engine and you’ll earn Swag Bucks that you can redeem for awesome rewards. The best value prize, in my opinion, is the $5 Amazon.com gift code – it’s just 450 Swag Bucks, and you can redeem your Swag Bucks for up to five of them every month.

There’s a lot going on at Swagbucks right now, and one of the most exciting things is the way you can stretch your Swag Bucks further in the Swag Store. Now through the end of the year, all gift card prices have been changed so that 100 Swag Bucks = $1 (except for the $5 Amazon card, which is still 450 Swag Bucks!). This means you can get a $5 gift card for 500 Swag Bucks, a $10 gift card for 1,000 Swag Bucks, and so on. They also give out bonuses for hitting consecutive days within a month – all bonuses are cumulative and get applied at the beginning of the following month.
