You’ll find a list of this week’s Rite Aid deals here.
There are some big changes taking effect at Rite Aid today, and I want to see how they play out before listing some Starter Scenarios and sending a newbie out there when I don’t know exactly what to expect. The biggest change is one I’ve mentioned previously called Load2Card – which basically means +UP rewards will no longer print on your receipt, but will instead be loaded onto your card and not be available until the next morning at 6 a.m. This, of course, makes rolling rewards much more difficult. +UP rewards will be valid for 14 days after activation at 6 a.m.
Rite Aid has a Load2Card FAQ, which is refreshingly honest – they acknowledge that they’re making these changes in order to encourage customers to return to the store as much as possible. Highest value +UPs will be automatically redeemed first, which could make for complications if you have lower value +UPs that are expiring earlier, or if you want to do a small transaction. It looks like you can “manage” +UP rewards online, including adding and removing +UPs from your card, but then you’ll need to have planned out your transactions carefully and I suspect it will all be too complicated, especially if you want to do more than one transaction in one visit.
You do have the option of opting out of Load2Card and continuing to get +UPs printed on your receipt. The only catch is that they will still not be available until 6 a.m. the next day. However, this option seems like the better bet for playing The Drugstore Game, since it will be easier to manage the different +UPs that you want to redeem. Update: If your store’s personnel has difficulty processing your request to opt out of Load2Card, show them these instructions at I Heart Rite Aid.
Another change is that you’ll now need a Wellness+ account to log into Video Values. You might already have one, but if not, you’ll need to create one in order to access Rite Aid’s Video Values coupons.
For Starter Scenarios, I’m not sure of the best way to proceed – would you rather continue to see multiple transactions that now require you to return to the store more than once during the week, or would you rather see one large transaction with +UPs that you roll from week to week and only require one trip to the store each week?
