  • Walgreens Starter Scenarios: 5/6 – 5/12/2012

You’ll find a list of this week’s Walgreens deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. In these transactions, I assume that you do not have any Register Rewards to start with.

    Transaction #1:
    1 Complete Multipurpose contact solution @ $7.99

$1/1 Complete Multi Purpose Solution from 4/29 Smart Source

    Pay: $6.99 + tax
    Receive: $8 RR

    Transaction #2:
    1 Lanacane Cream @ $5
    1 Tylenol Precise @ $5.99
1 Alka Seltzer Plus Allergy Relief @ $3.99

    $2 RR from previous transaction

At this point, you’ll have paid $7.83 + tax for contact solution, anti-itch cream, topical pain relief, allergy meds, cottage cheese, witch hazel, 2 toilet bowl cleaners, potato chips and a can of tomato sauce – plus you’ll have a $4 RR to roll next week or spend this week, making your net cost just $3.83. You’d pay more than that just for the contact solution at Target!

    1. Venessa says:

Am I crazy or is there not a $3/1 Tylenol Precise in the May Walgreens Coupon Booklet? What page is it on?

      • Chief Family Officer says:

Hm. I don’t have the May booklet, but usually the coupons are online as well and I don’t see it there either. It may have been a typo in the match ups I use; I would just skip the Precise for now. Sorry!

    2. I didn’t see the Precise coupon in the May book either but it does show in my ad with a $1 RR, making it $1.99 after it’s all said and done.

I am in Florida and the RR for the Bayer anti-allergy didn’t print for me. It’s not listed in my ad, so I don’t know if that was a regional offer or what.
