  • Walgreens Starter Scenarios: 1/15 – 1/21/2012

You’ll find a list of this week’s Walgreens deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. In these transactions, I assume that you do not have any Register Rewards to start with.

    Transaction #1:
    BUY:
    2 Colgate Total toothpaste @ 2/$6

    USE:
2 x $1/1 Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste from Jan 2012 or Dec 2011 All You, or 1/1/12 Smart Source (some areas including SoCal got $0.75/1 instead)

    Pay: $4 + tax
    Receive: $2 RR

    Transaction #2:
    BUY:
    1 Thermacare pain relief @ $2.49

    USE:
    $2 RR from previous transaction

    Pay: $0.49 + tax
    Receive: $2.50 RR

    Transaction #3:
    BUY:
    2 Nabisco crackers @ 2/$5
    1 Walgreens candy @ $0.49 with in-ad coupon

    USE:
$1/2 Nabisco crackers printable or Facebook printable
    $1/2 Nabisco Crackers Walgreens IVC Coupons {should be in January coupon booklet}
    in-ad coupon for Walgreens candy
    $2 RR from previous transaction

    Pay: $1.49 + tax

In sum, you’ll pay $5.48 for two tubes of toothpaste, 1 heat patch, two packages of crackers, and a bag of candy. The toothpaste alone would cost that much at most other stores.
