  • CVS Starter Scenario: 11/27 – 12/3/11

You’ll find a list of this week’s CVS deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.

Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card – you’ll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away). You may also want to pick up a CVS green bag tag to earn ECBs for using reusable bags.

There’s a deal where you get a $10 gift card if you spend $30 on selected products, and I think that’s the best deal this week. There are many ways to swing this deal depending on what coupons you have. It also appears that prices vary by region – I’ve used the prices listed in my SoCal ad, but I recommend checking your local ad to verify prices in your area. For purposes of this scenario, I’m assuming that you have only one of each insert coupon:

    Transaction Idea:
    3 Puffs Tissues, 95 – 108 ct @ $0.77 each
    1 2x Ultra Tide @ $5.94
    1 Bounty Paper Towels, 12 pk @ $9.77
    1 Dawn @ $0.88
    2 Glade Air Freshener @ $0.99 each
    1 Oral B Cross Action Power Toothbrush @ $4.99
    2 Nestle Jingles @ 2/$5

    $0.25/3 Puffs Facial Tissues 10/30 P&G Insert (exp 11/30)
    $2/1 Tide Detergent 10/30 P&G Insert (exp 11/30)
    $0.25/1 Bounty Towels 11/27 P&G Insert
    $0.50/1 Dawn 10/30 P&G Insert (exp 11/30)
    $2/2 Glade products CVS printable
    $3/1 Oral B battery toothbrush 11/27 P&G Insert
    $1.25/2 Nestle Jingles printable

    Pay: $21.62 + tax
    Receive: $10 Gift Card of your choice {a coupon for the gift card will print at the end of your receipt; you’ll need to take the coupon with the gift card to a cashier to “pay for” the gift card}

In sum, your net cost will be $11.62 + tax for 3 boxes of tissue, laundry detergent, paper towels, dish detergent, air freshener, a battery-operated toothbrush, and candy. If you have additional coupons, you can use your gift card coupon to get a CVS gift card, and then roll the gift card into this deal again to get everything for even less out of pocket.
