  • Walgreens Starter Scenarios: 8/21 – 8/27/11

You’ll find a list of this week’s Walgreens deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at Walgreens. In these transactions, I assume that you do not have any Register Rewards to start with.

    Transaction #1:
1 Colgate Sensitive Pro Relief Toothpaste or Toothbrush @ $4.99

$1.50/1 Colgate Sensitive Pro-relief Toothpaste 7/31/2011 Smart Source

    Pay: $3.49 + tax
    Receive: $4 RR

    Transaction #2:
    2 Crest 3D White Toothpaste @ 2/$5
    2 Butterball Chicken Broth @ 2/$1 with in-ad coupon

    2 $1/1 Crest Toothpaste 7/31/2011 P&G Insert
    $4 RR from previous transaction
    in-ad coupon for Butterball

    Pay: Tax
    Receive: $3 RR for Crest

At this point, you’ve spent $3.49 + tax for three tubes of toothpaste and two cans of chicken broth – you could pay that just for one tube of toothpaste without a sale and/or coupon. Plus you have a $3 RR to roll next week or spend on this week’s sale items – Walgreens has had the best school supply sales of all the drugstores this year, and they continue this week.
