You’ll find a list of this week’s CVS deals here.
If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.
Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card – you’ll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away). You may also want to pick up a CVS green bag tag to earn ECBs for using reusable bags.
Transaction #1: (updated to fix my math- thanks, Katie!)
1 Bounty Paper Towels 12-pack @ $9.99
1 Charmin Big Rolls 16-pack @ $9.99

$0.25/1 Bounty Towels or Napkins 07/31/11 P&G Insert
$0.25/1 Charmin Toilet Paper 07/31/11 P&G Insert
$0.25/3 Puffs Facial Tissue 07/31/11 P&G Insert
Pay: $25.23 + tax
Receive: $10 ECB
1 Colgate Optic White Toothpaste 40oz @ $2.99
1 Bengay product @ $5.49
1 Revlon Lip @ $6.99
$0.50/1 Colgate Toothpaste, 4 oz+ 07/24/11 Smart Source
$3/1 Bengay Products 06/19/11 or 07/31/11 Red Plum
$1/1 Revlon Color Cosmetics Product 08/14/11 Smart Source
$10 ECB from previous transaction
Pay: $0.97 + tax
Receive: $2 ECB for Colgate & $2 ECB for Bengay & $5 ECB for Revlon
Your out of pocket total of $26.20 for these scenarios is unusually high, but you’ll be stocking up on paper towels, toilet paper and tissue, plus you get toothpaste, Bengay and lipstick, and you still have $9 in ECBs to spend on sale items or roll next week. The paper towels work out to less than $0.50 per roll after ECB, the toilet paper to $0.36 per roll after ECB, and the tissue to $0.57 per box after ECB. Those are all great prices that you rarely find outside The Drugstore Game.
