  • CVS Starter Scenarios: 5/1 – 5/7/11

You’ll find a list of this week’s CVS deals here.

If you’re new to The Drugstore Game, these new starter transactions will help you get your feet wet and show you how The Drugstore Game can save you money on things you already buy. If you don’t understand the transactions, read my Drugstore Game Primer, Common Sense with Money’s FAQ (which has a handy explanation of acronyms), and my explanation of How to Play The Drugstore Game at CVS.

Be sure to sign up for a free CVS Extra Care card – you’ll need it for the following deals (get it in store instead of online so they give you the card right away).

    Transaction #1:
Buy 1 Colgate MaxClean SmartFoam Toothpaste @ $2.77

Use $1/1 Colgate MaxClean Toothpaste All You May 2011 (or use $0.75/1 Colgate Toothpaste 5/1 SS)

    Pay: $1.77 + tax
    Receive: $2.77 ECB

    Transaction #2:
Buy 1 All Free Clear Oxi-Active Laundry Detergent @ $4.99

Use $1.50/1 All Free Clear OXI-Active Laundry Detergent 04/10/11 RP (or use $1/1 All Laundry Detergent 04/10/11 RP or printable)
And use $2.77 ECB from previous transaction

    Pay: $0.72 + tax
    Receive: $1 ECB

In sum, pay $2.49 + tax for toothpaste and laundry detergent. If you don’t usually shop loss leaders with coupons, then you probably pay $2.50 just for toothpaste or detergent if you wait for a sale. So $2.50 for both is a great deal! Plus, you have $1 to roll next week or to spend on Dawn dish soap or Pepsi 2-liters, which are on sale this week.

    1. Denise P says:

Thanks for the new emphasis. I would say that I am more than a beginner with coupons, but just because I can, doesn't mean I want to! You are now my go to for the best, most reasonable, I'll-actually-use-these-items, match ups.

And Thursday I combined the $3/$15 email coupon with the $1/one for ALL (x2) and .75/one toothpaste (x2) for 2 bottles of detergent 2 tubes of toothpaste =$1.48 +tax net cost. woot! woot!

    2. Chief Family Officer says:

Thanks, Denise, you made my day! I wasn't sure if anyone would find the new scenarios helpful so I'm glad to know you do 😀 Great work on your transaction – lucky you, getting the $3/$15 coupon!
