  • Morning Coffee: Warm weather = bad allergies

    It’s been really warm here in LA – shorts and t-shirts weather – but the warm temps have apparently brought in some new pollens, because my allergies are driving me crazy. Fortunately, I have some Zyrtec that I bought a few months ago with some expiring ECBs. Unfortunately, the last time I took Zyrtec, it knocked me out. But that was a long time ago, so this should be a fun experiment!

    Amazon is currently offering a pearl and Swarovski crystal “elements” bracelet for just $12. Disclosure: I’m an Amazon affiliate, so any purchase you make after entering Amazon through a link on Chief Family Officer supports this site at no additional cost to you. Thank you!

    Also at Amazon, members of Amazon Mom can get 648 Huggies wipes for just $11.57 with Subscribe & Save. That works out to 1.8 cents per wipe, which is a stock-up price. Amazon Mom members must purchase $25 in Baby Store items to extend the free Prime membership – fortunately, the $25 mark is calculated before discounts, so buying two of these packs should qualify.

    Deal site Tanga is offering a one-year subscription to Fast Company for $2.99 when you use code code FAST. This is one of our favorite magazines, and one of the few I will pay for. $2.99/year is a great deal, so I just bought the max of four years at this price. You might be able to get cash back through Mr. Rebates (3%) or Ebates (2.5%), even though the coupon code isn’t listed on their sites.

    Freebies 4 Mom reports that there’s a new code for a free photo book at Snapfish.

    Extreme couponing: One A Full Cup user says she made $43.32 in Register Rewards at Walgreens while buying $2392.16 worth of items.

    For the Mommas reports that there will be no SCRs valid at Rite Aid from 1/23 to 1/26 while they shift their start and end dates to Wednesday through Tuesday starting with the February SCRs.

    1. Zyrtec knocks me out too. I haven't taken it since college, but I'm afraid to try it again. Even when taking it the night before, I was a groggy mess throughout the day.

      I've been taking a lot of sinex for my allergies(bought at Walgreens of course)… it is basically just tylenol and the main component in pseudafed PE, which works well for allergies. And my allergies are always bad here in Pasadena!

    2. Chief Family Officer says:

      @Rebecca – For what it's worth, the Zyrtec made me a little tired, but didn't knock me out the way it did years ago. I'll have to remember that about the Sinex if this keeps up, thanks! I too have a bunch I bought at Wags :)

    3. 20 and Engaged says:

      My allergies have been killing me too! Try the generic brand of Zyrtec. That usually helps me and hasn't knocked me out…yet.

    4. Chief Family Officer says:

      @20&Engaged – I'll give it a try, thanks!
