  • Morning Coffee: LA Times Weekend Edition is $1.50 again

Last year, I was so excited to discover that the weekend edition of the LA Times, which comes out on Saturday but has all of the week’s inserts, was just 75 cents. So imagine my surprise yesterday to discover that not only has the price gone up, it’s doubled. The weekend edition is now $1.50, just like the regular Sunday paper. At that rate, buying just 7 extra papers during the year will put me over $10, which is the current rate for a year-long Sunday-only subscription. I currently get two papers at $10/year, but I’m going to try increasing that to at least three and maybe four so I don’t ever have to buy another extra paper at the store. (There was an ad in yesterday’s paper to get q year of the SUnday Time for $9.88 with offer code 900105; it says new subscribers only but I’ve found that they will often extend the offer to current subscribers.)

Daily deal site Mamapedia is offering first time Mamapedia buyers an AMC movie ticket for just $4. The ticket will be mailed to you and will not expire. Thank you if you join Mamapedia using my referral link!

Amazon’s Video Game Deal of the Day is EA Sports Active. EA Sports Active 2 is available for all platforms at the awesome price of $48.99 ($11 less than the usual sale price of $59.99), and EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp is available for the Wii, also at $48.99. I don’t know much about the NFL game, but it gets four out of five stars in 32 reviews. Disclosure: I’m an Amazon affiliate, so any purchase you make after entering Amazon through a link on Chief Family Officer supports this site at no additional cost to you. Thank you!

I spotted a pair of black shell pearl earrings at Amazon for just $15. According to the description, a “shell pearl” is one that’s man-made using a piece of oyster shell. The earrings would be lovely paired with this three-row stretch pearl bracelet that’s only $16.

The printable coupon for Buy One, Get One Special K cereal has reportedly reset, so you might be able to print two more. These are on sale at Rite Aid and Walgreens this week.

Centsable Momma reports that you can get Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story for the Nintendo DS for less than $20 at Walmart.

My Good Cents reports that you can get a free Kleenex Sneeze Catcher Kit that includes free tissues and coupons.

Wild for Wags has an update on this week’s Walgreens deals.

Stretching a Buck has this week’s Target deals.

    1. Yes, I noticed the price of the LA Times went up also. I checked that it had 2 inserts before I bought it. Then on Sunday when I got my paper delivered, I found out that there were 3 inserts so I got less when I bought the paper on Saturday!

@Susan – You can click on the banner in my posts starting midweek that says "See what coupons are in Sunday's paper" or something like that. It will take you to Sunday Coupon Preview, where there's a list of the inserts that will in the paper that weekend, and an insert schedule for the whole year (although P&G might not all be listed).

    3. Wow, the Special K reset for me! Thanks for posting the link. Another four boxes of Special K, yay. Love the great deals for healthy cereal.

I usually buy my extra papers at the dollar tree or at the 99cent store for $1 each. I just flip through them and make sure all the inserts are in there that were in my delivered paper and buy them from there. (that is the cheapest I have found)
