  • Morning Coffee: Lots of board games and other toys at TRU

I used Moneywise Moms‘ scenario and bought eight board games at Toys R Us yesterday. The cashier commented that everyone was buying board games, and I’m even thinking of going back since the deals this week are so good and I could get a few more games cheaply after gift card and rebate. The store seemed over-stocked on toys, and although I realize that they’re getting ready for the holiday rush, the shelves were especially stuffed. It’ll be interesting to see if they sell well, or if we’ll get fabulous clearance sales in January.

Bargain Briana reports that there are good deals this week at Staples, including $1 reams of paper.

For the Mommas reports that today only, you can get a Flip Ultra Video Camera for $129 and a $50 gift card at Staples.

When buying items that get you a gift card at Target now, you might need to do separate transactions for each gift card.

Tomorrow (11/9), you can try Coffee Bean’s new Red Velvet Hot Cocoa for just $1 from 4 to 7 p.m. You can also get Winter Dream Tea Latte and the new Gingerbread Cookie Latte in 12oz servings for $1. 100% of the proceeds will benefit The Help Group, a nonprofit organization aimed at serving children with various special needs. I recommend calling ahead to see if your store is a participating location.

Through January 31, 2011, TurboTax is offering a free expert answer to your tax questions. You can submit one tax question online and receive a personal call back at a time you request – note that they’ve started this offer now so that you can ask your questions while you can still do something before the year ends.

Thanks for the link, Cathy! My store said they'd give me the $10 Hasbro GC along with the $10 GC for buying $75 (it's a coupon in this week's ad), so I'm going to go back and do that instead of just buying the games.

It's good to see a mom that still invests in quality fun family board games. Parents are often drawn to flashy new toys and forget how educational board games are.
