It’s been a long time since I felt comfortable doing more than two transactions in one trip to Walgreens, ever since my favorite cashier disappeared from the store I used to go to. But I’ve found a new store with an awesome manager, and if you’re local, I can’t say enough good things about the Walgreens in Encino. They’re having a party this weekend to celebrate their one-year opening, and they’re doing a “safe trick or treat” for kids too.
I just got back after doing seven transactions that cost me less than $6 out of pocket (I put approximately $2 on a gift card before it ran out). I got four tubes of Colgate Sensitive (my preferred toothpaste) and three boxes of Contac. My transactions consisted of me rolling the Register Rewards between the deals, using the Royal Gelatin as a filler when needed (20 cents after in-ad coupon!). I also picked up two boxes of vinyl gloves, which I wear when cleaning the house or cutting a particularly messy vegetable (like butternut squash or pumpkin, which make my hands orange and sticky). I’d just used my last glove yesterday, so I really needed these.
I also picked up three boxes of Alka-Seltzer Fast Crystal Packs, which were tagged as part of the Register Rewards deal. Buy three at $3.99, use three of the $3/1 coupons that were in last Sunday’s RP, pay $2.97 + tax and get back a $5 RR. The Fast Crystal Packs were in the cold and flu aisle, not the antacid aisle.
The Balance bars weren’t tagged yet for the mid-week sale, but I tried it and it worked. Pay $1.59 and get a $1.60 RR back. Use the BOGO coupon from the 10/10 SS to get two for free.
Ever since I started needing sensitive toothpaste, I’ve noticed that they usually aren’t included in the free offers. So I’m really excited to have gotten some this week, and I have a couple more coupons and one more Contac coupon so I may head back before the sale ends.
However – I did have one glitch, and that was realizing when I got there that my five $1 RRs from the Halls deal had expired back on Sunday.
So, if you’ve made it this far and can use expired RRs at your store, here’s a bit of fun: I will send the expired RRs to the first person to email me with their name and address and the subject line “Walgreens Expired RR Giveaway.” Gone to Roberta S!
The rest of us can be envious of those who get to use expired RRs!
