  • Midmorning Coffee: Adults should get a whooping cough booster

The whooping cough epidemic has infected over 6,000 people in California, and killed some babies. Public health officials recommend that adolescents (ages 11 through 18) who got the routine vaccine as a child get a booster dose, and that adults get a booster if they haven’t had one in the last 10 years. I just went to my doctor’s office for a flu shot, and got a pertussis booster while I was there. The LA Times has some suggestions on where to get vaccinated, regardless of whether you have insurance.

I normally don’t buy movies right when they come out on DVD, but the boys all saw this one without me and I really want to see it. Oh, and of course, they’ll enjoy seeing it again too.

Thanks for talking about the whooping cough booster. We have too many parents contact us because their infant is sick due to an infected relative passing on the infection.
