  • A Few Hot Deals Today: Grass Fed Beef & More

Today’s the day to get grass-fed ground beef for just $3.99 per pound at Whole Foods. I called ahead to request 20 1-pound packages, which they had waiting for me when I arrived. The regular price on this beef is $7.99 per pound at my store, so I’m thrilled with the 50% savings. Even on sale, it’s twice what I’d pay for conventional ground beef, but I think the cost is worth it. And the 20 pounds I bought today will last us for quite some time.

GrouponToday’s Los Angeles Groupon is a dozen Mrs. Beasley’s cupcakes for $18. It’s a $42 value that would make a fabulous hostess or birthday gift, so I scooped one up myself (I love Mrs. Beasley’s). The coupon expires March 6, 2011, so I’ll probably save it for some party around the holidays. It’s redeemable in two Costa Mesa locations as well as locations in Beverly Hills, Encino, Tarzana, and Pasadena. Limit one per person. To change your location in Groupon, just click on the “Visit More Cities” link at the top. Links via

Clearance deals vary a lot, but I found a 72-caplet box of Imodium A-D for just $4 at Walgreens. I used the $2/1 coupon from the 8/15 Red Plum to get it for just $2.

Over at Ralphs, the 3-day sale is on. But my unadvertised finds were Laura’s Lean Beef steaks for $7.99 per pound, and Minute Maid frozen lemonade for $1. I got the lemonade for free by using the 75 cents/1 Minute Maid Frozen Novelty from the 7/25 Red Plum.
