  • My Rite Aid Scenario this week

I’ll post the weekly Rite Aid deals later this weekend, but since I just got back from Rite Aid (deals start on Friday here in SoCal), I thought I’d share my scenario as an illustration of how you can get things you need very cheaply in The Drugstore Game.

Our dermatologist highly recommended a cream called Cerave to treat eczema, so we use it twice a day, every day. The regular price of a 16-oz jar is $14.99 at Rite Aid and (if memory serves) $16.99 at CVS. But this week, it’s on sale for $10.99 at Rite Aid, with a $2 +UP reward. And there’s a $2/1 coupon at Coupons.com. $6.99 for a jar? You can bet I’m getting at least two.

We’ve also been going through sunscreen like it’s water, so I was pleased to see Coppertone on sale again. It qualifies for a couple of SCR deals too (#555 & #655), so after I buy one more bottle after today’s transaction (I had already bought one), I’ll get a $15 Rite Aid gift card. I’ve been buying Water Babies after learning that it received a good rating from Consumer Reports.

    So here’s what I did:

    1 Coppertone Water Babies $8.99
    1 Cerave $10.99
    1 Crest with Scope $2.69

    - $5 off $20 purchase Video Values coupon
    - $3/1 Coppertone Video Values coupon
    - $1/1 Coppertone printable
    - $2/1 Cerave printable
    - 75 cents/1 Crest paste from 6/27 RP or 7/4 P&G (some regions got $1/1 in the 6/27 RP)

I paid $10.92 + $1.24 tax, and got back a $2 +UP reward for Cerave and $1 +UP reward for Coppertone. Plus, I’ll get $2.69 via SCR for the Crest.

So I end up paying $6.47, including tax, for a jar of Cerave and sunscreen. Without The Drugstore Game, I would have paid about $25 for those two items. And that’s why I play the The Drugstore Game.
