The Nielsen Homescan Panel is a consumer panel that measures consumer attitudes and behavior. The information gathered is used to help manufacturers and retailers make decisions on what products to develop or improve. As I understand it, when you join, you agree to scan everything you buy so that your purchases can be tracked – if you have the time and inclination to do that, it seems like an easy way to bring in extras to your home. You’ll earn points that are redeemable for name-brand merchandise, including electronics equipment, jewelry, household items, and toys, and sweepstakes entries. Common Sense with Money reports that there’s a mid-week circular this week at Walgreens, with even more free items. Unfortunately, I didn’t see any sign of the ad at the store this morning, the shelves weren’t tagged with the new deals, and the ad’s not online either. So the ad may be regional, or maybe I just need to find a new favorite store.
Just Bento has a fascinating recipe for a frittata made in a rice cooker (!).
If you’re planning ahead, Sunday Coupon Preview indicates that there won’t be any coupon inserts this weekend because of the holiday, but the P&G site states there will be a P&G insert on Sunday. I’m going with the P&G site, and will expect to find a solitary insert in Sunday’s paper.
