  • Walgreens: Rolling Register Rewards Illustrated

I got all of my Drugstore Game deals done on Sunday, although I’m contemplating heading back to Walgreens sometime this week for more of the free-after-Register Rewards items. I was a little disappointed, because I’d planned to do the Sunday-only Theraflu deal that Common Sense with Money had posted, but the price at my store was $1 more per box, and thus not a moneymaker. But I got the Aviva monitor, which was a $5 moneymaker. I could have done two transactions to minimize my out of pocket, but I was in a rush to get home in time to take one of the boys to a birthday party and didn’t think of it until I had left the store. So here’s the one transaction I did:

    1 Accu-Chek Aviva Blood Glucose Monitor $14.99
    1 Blink Tears $7.99

    - $10/1 Accu-Chek coupon from 11/8 SS insert
    - $5/1 Walgreens Store coupon from Diabetes and You Magazine (expired 1/31)
    - $2/1 Blink from 1/31 RP

    Paid: $5.99 + tax
Received: $5 RR for Aviva monitor + $8 RR for Blink

If I go back this week, I’ll do:

    1 Blink Tears $7.99
1 Scotch mailer 39 cents with in-ad coupon

    - $2/1 Blink from 1/31 RP
    - $5 RR

    Pay: $1.38 + tax
    Receive: $8 RR for Blink

I could then roll the two $8 RRs into the other items that are free after RR this week, as follows:

1 Zicam Cold Sore Swabs $10
1 Vitamin Schtik Lip Care $1.99
    1 Salpicin Medicated Wipes $5.99
2 Puffs tissue 89 cents each with in-ad coupon

    - $3 Zicam peelie (I’m expecting to find this since it’s in the ad)
    - $8 RR + $8 RR

Pay: 76 cents + tax Receive: $7 RR for Zicam, $2 RR for Vitamin Schtik, $6 RR for Salpicin

I have no use for the medicated wipes, but supposedly some of the boxes have phone cards in them. And you might be able to find some on clearance as well.

    And the rolling could continue:

    1 Blink Tears $7.99
1 Scotch mailer 39 cents with in-ad coupon
    - $2/1 Blink from 1/31 RP
    - $6 RR

    Pay: 38 cents + tax
    Receive: $8 RR for Blink

    Or:

    1 Joint Joice $10
    1 Blink Tears $7.99
2 Scotch mailers 39 cents each with in-ad coupon

    - $2/1 Blink from 1/31 RP
    - $7 RR + $2 RR + $6 RR

    Pay: $1.77 + tax
Receive: $10 RR for Joint Juice + $8 RR for Blink

I would definitely use the eye drops, the lip balm, the tissue, and the mailers, so I’d be paying very little to stock up on things truly useful items. I just don’t know if I have time to make it to Walgreens again. But I’ve been playing The Drugstore Game long enough that I have a pretty decent stock of everything, and the beauty of the game is that there’s always another deal right around the corner.

Stay tuned for some starter Walgreens transactions later today . . .
