If you signed up for credit monitoring as part of the Trans Union class action settlement I mentioned a few months ago, you should receive information soon on how to claim the benefits if you haven’t already (I received an email last week). I’ve mentioned Catalog Choice before, but now that I’ve been using them for almost two years, I can say that there’s been a tremendous reduction in the number of unwanted catalogs that we’ve received. And Catalog Choice has made improvements since I first started using them. For example, if a site doesn’t accept third-party requests to discontinue a catalog, then Catalog Choice will direct you to their online contact form and provide an exclusive email address to use in making your request. They’ve also continued to add catalogs to their service, and they’ll let you know if a catalog you’ve previously searched for that wasn’t available at the time has become available in their system. Compared to two years ago, we get about 10% of the catalogs that we used to, thanks to Catalog Choice.
