  • Cosco Car Seat Recall

Dorel Juvenile Group, which manufactures Cosco car seats, has recalled over 50,000 car seats, including their High Back Boosters and Touriva convertible car seat, because the harnesses may deteriorate when exposed to sunlight. Additional car seats have been recalled because they violate abrasion standards (I’m not sure the number is right, it looks like almost 4 million car seats could be affected by this one). Note that the recalled seats were manufactured between 2000 and 2002. Click through to the NHTSA press releases here and here for a full list of affected models and more details.

Dorel’s official safety notices are now on their web site. It appears that they will be contacting registered owners in early February, and that a replacement kit will be available for all owners.

Stay on top of recalls by signing up for recall notifications by email at the NHTSA web site.
