  • Two Paragraph Review: Avatar

I’ve seen only rave reviews of James Cameron’s new movie, Avatar – all A’s, not even an A- from anyone. But still – I couldn’t help but be skeptical of the freaky blue people and the avatar premise seemed weak. Plus I was genuinely offended by the blatant promotion of the film in a recent episode of Bones, when the geeky trio of men are so excited to see the movie that they camp out in line for the best seats at a special screening.

But we had babysitters, and I wasn’t about to inflict New Moon on my husband (I love you too much for that, honey!). So I was surprised at how much I liked Avatar. Even though it was over 2 1/2 hours. The story is good, the special effects are truly tremendous, and it didn’t even seem overly long (though I did have to run out in the middle for a quick bathroom break). I don’t want to spoil anything, so I’ll just say that if you have three hours to spare, go see Avatar.

DH and I went to see it sans kids this afternoon. Though we watch most of our movies at home these days, Avatar was definitely worth seeing on the big screen.

Best wishes for the new year!
