Before I tell you about my CVS trip yesterday, I want to thank the commenters who shared their thoughts on my Walgreens post yesterday. I was thinking the shower cleaner would be worth trying for $5, but Camille's comment made me realize that I don't want to move everything out of the way. (I can't, really - I've got nowhere to put it.) So I've decided not to get the shower cleaner after all. I'll still be going to Walgreens, though - and thanks to Clean Clutterfree Simple for the heads up on the Crest mouthwash. I'm going to buy it anyway since it'll be a moneymaker with the coupon, but I don't plan on using it!
Not surprisingly, my CVS deal didn't go quite as planned (no Schick razors), but it was still super, thanks to the Ambi soap bars, which are an easy moneymaker this month. My first transaction went like this:
1 kid's binoculars, 75% off - $1.25
1 L'Oreal Revitalift cleanser - $5.99
2 Ambi bar soaps @ $1.99 each - $3.98
1 Burt's Bees shampoo/body wash - $6.99
Total before coupons: $18.21
Coupons used: $2 off $10 purchase, $1 off L'Oreal & $13.98 in ECBs
I paid $1.88 including tax, and received the following ECBs: $5.99 for L'Oreal and $6.00 for Ambi ($3 each).
Then I did my second transaction:
4 Right Guard deodorants @ $2.99 each - $11.96
1 Ambi bar soap - $1.99
Total before coupons: $13.95
Coupons used: $2/$10, 4 $1 off Right Guard & $6 in ECBs
I paid $2.44 and received the following ECBs: $8 for Right Guard ($2 each) and $3 for Ambi.
I used the self-checkout line, and didn't realize that the register wasn't giving me the sale price til the very end, after I'd scanned my ECBs. That put me into a negative total, which required the manager to come over. Tyler was giving me a hard time, but the manager was super nice about it, so I can't complain at all. (If I can remember his name, I am going to email customer service to let them know.) My only real complaint is that when I swiped my gift card, I was prompted to enter a PIN. The manager had left at that point, and the girl who was helping at self-checkout couldn't figure it out. I just wanted to leave, so I paid with a credit card.
Basically, I paid $4.32 on my card and $19.98 in ECBs, and received back $22.99 in ECBs. One way of looking at my transactions is to say the Burt's Bees soap, which is what I really wanted, cost me $1.31 (and it probably would have been zero if I hadn't gotten the binoculars for Alex). Plus, I now have tons of extra stuff that I can use, give away, or donate.
