First, I want to say THANK YOU! to everyone who voted for my post My best financial move this year: The Infrequent Bills Account in Free Money Finance's March Madness tournament. I won! But I'll need your votes again in Round Two, where my post is competing against My Dollar Plan's Financial Strategies for Infants and Young Children. I'll post a link to the actual tournament post when it's up, so you can vote in the comments (hint, hint!). As I mentioned earlier, FMF is offering a $500 donation to the charity of the winner's choice - and I'm playing for Children's Hospital Los Angeles. It's a great cause, as it's the go-to hospital around here for serious conditions in children.
Second, you might notice a different look around here for a little while as I experiment with some changes to the template and ad locations. I'm currently thinking of widening the template and adding a second sidebar to bring additional content above the fold. I'd love to hear some opinions as I make the changes, so please leave a comment or email me whenever you like or dislike something. Thanks!
And now for today's list:
- Freezer Cooking Recipes for Once a Month Cooking at Mom's Budget - This is a huge list of meals that (allegedly) freeze well. I'll try some of them out and report back.
- Middle Class Millionaires? at Five Cent Nickel - I would like to be in this group sooner rather than later, but without the workaholic aspects!
- Going Green at Tangled and True - I love the idea of saving junk mail just to give the kids something to do when they're bored and will definitely do that when my boys are a little older.
- Analysis: Vaccine-Autism Link Unproven - I think most new parents these days worry about a possible connection between vaccines and autism. Although the government has settled the case mentioned in the article, I think the significant part is that the vaccines may have triggered something that was already there. Via Lazy Man and Health.
- How To Grow Your Own Alfalfa Sprouts: Part One at The Kitchn - I've mentioned before that I dream about growing my own food and also that I have a black thumb, but I'm hoping that growing sprouts is easier than growing herbs.
- Dave Ramsey's Baby Steps: M-Network Style at I've Paid For This Twice Already - Since I'm not a Dave Ramsey follower, I enjoyed the M-Network's review of his Baby Steps program.

Well, in the end, does it really matter whether vaccines directly cause injury or whether they trigger an underlying condition? One way or the other they appear to be causing trouble for some children. Now, I'm not saying kids shouldn't be vaccinated, but maybe there's something to the idea that we need to start vaccinating later and spacing them apart so as to cause less stress on the body. I know the multi-dose shots are supposed to be "better" because the kids get fewer shots, but really, let's weigh that--a little more distress from a small physical pain that goes away, versus a lot more distress from a neurological disorder? No contest, as far as I'm concerned.
They wanted to vaccinate my daughter for hepatitis B right after her birth. I was like, "Um... no. Let's wait a few months." That just seemed ridiculous.
