Mapgirl's post really illustrates the impact of saving early. Even if you stop making deposits, money left alone to grow will multiply over the years and be a pleasant surprise down the line. In fact, I have one retirement account that started with just $5,000 and in less than 10 years, it's almost doubled even though I haven't added anything to it.
