I read very recently that it's important that Alex begin learning to chew now, so I've been using a disk with slightly bigger holes in the food mill and mixing his cereals a little bit thicker. I also just read this article, which was helpful in explaining that it can take a long time for babies to get used to texture and transition out of purees.
